 | A Casa da Ponte de S. Pedro is a typical granite stone country house from the province of Minho. Its first registration dates back to August, 22nd 1882. | | The name of the cottage derives from the medieval, one-arched stone bridge over the Turio rivulet, near the house. Next to the bridge stands St Peters Chapel where a pilgrimage, and a religious festivity, takes place every three years. From the bridge, the tourist can admire the scenery of the Turio woods and Cabreira Mountain. These woods shelter such protected species as the roe deer, the eagle, the hare, the wild boar or the partridge. | | In the surrounding area, the tourist can also enjoy the sights and activities at the Ermal Dam, a magnificent mountain lake, where the preservation of the environment is a matter of pride, not allowing any type of motor water sports. The artificial lake itself, surrounded by dense woods, provides the visitor with an excellent spot for fishing, canoeing and sailing, or simply relaxing on its clean, wonderful shores and beach.
Open air activities such as mountaineering, trekking, mountain biking or off-road circuits are also available all across forest tracks, roads and paths in Cabreira Mountain. The Cottage has 2 kayaks and mountain bikes at the tourists disposal. Pedestrian walks both in Cabreira and Gerês Mountains can be arranged. | | The Cottage offers the tourist 2 twin-bed rooms, 2 double rooms and a 3-bed room, all of them with private bathroom, 3 fully equipped sitting rooms with TV, sound system and traditional fireplace. Vieira do Minho is a small town in the North of Portugal, occupying an area of approximately 21 Km2 in the district of Braga.
Offering the visitors an unforgettable scenery, Serra da Cabreira Cabreira Mountain is undoubtedly one of most interesting touristy areas, being considered by the local population as the ex-libris of the municipality of Vieira do Minho.
In the magnificent landscape that surrounds the municipality, the visitor can enjoy the sights of Turio Valley, Chã de Prado and the Spring of the Ave River. Talefe is the highest point on the Cabreira Mountain, from which one can admire the views of the municipalities bordering Vieira do Minho.
The dams near Vieira do Minho are a popular tourist destination not only for their natural beauty but also for their crystal clear waters; the Ermal Dam is famous for its Teleskiing facilities (unique in the country) and the annual Rock Festival. The visitor has a wide choice of water sports at the Caniçada Dam as well.
